The Project for Sanitation Justice
Striving for more and better access to public water, sanitation, and hygiene ("WaSH") resources like public restrooms.
Who We Are &
What We Do
We are a multidisciplinary team of SDSU faculty and students working alongside community members and organizations to advance equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (“WaSH”) resources in our home of San Diego County, across California, and nationally.
Who We Are?
The Project for Sanitation Justice (“PSJ”) is an academic-community partnership among San Diego State University faculty and student researchers, and residents and organizations across San Diego County and nationally who are striving for equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (“WaSH”) in their communities.
What We Do?
The Project for Sanitation Justice (“PSJ”) was co-founded in 2020 by SDSU faculty and students and Think Dignity, a San Diego grassroots organization. Our central goal is to gather rigorous, high-quality data on public restrooms and other basic water, sanitation, and hygiene (“WaSH”) resources in San Diego County and across California.
Why We Do It?
We believe that safe and consistent access to drinking water, toilets, menstrual hygiene products, and other basic sanitation resources are fundamental human rights, cornerstones of public health, and essential public services.
